The New Hire Buddy Program helps new hires adjust to their new roles and teams by matching them with a peer or colleague for guidance through their new challenges. The New Hire Buddy Program helps new hires to achieve competency norms, work through new position hurdles, and expand peer networks. It also helps by tapping internal resources that can help you build knowledge and develop in your new role. The program is used for new employees to help them adjust to their new roles and acclimate to the company culture.

New Hire: Your recruiter or hiring manager will find a Buddy prior to your start date.
Buddy: The hiring manager will identify you as the new hire's Buddy.  The responsibilities and expectations will be explained. Click Here for more information on what it means to be a New Hire's Buddy.

NOTE: Both New Hire and Buddy will receive an invitation to login/create your profiles on this site.  The program is by invitation only.  Current Valley Water employees that wish to be a Buddy may contact their supervisor to inform them of your interest in participating in this program.

What is a New Hire Buddy?

A Buddy is someone that will pair with a new hire during their first three (3) months of employment. They will primarily offer support and guidance regarding the day-to-day aspects of working at this organization, but they will also be there to offer encouragement and help with integration into the company culture.

Why have a Buddy?

The purpose of new hires having a Buddy is to help welcome the new hire and reaffirm their decision to join the company. It provides our new employees with a reliable, motivated, single point-of-contact for their basic questions regarding the work experience and culture at this organization.

One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination. - John C. Maxwell
